In this last week alone two beautiful souls decided to end their lives and that’s just in my world and that of my friends. The global rate is devastating high. In my life I’ve faced so many accounts of suicide I can’t even count them on my two hands. It makes me so sad. It also makes me think. Can we prevent suicide from happening? Is their anything we can put in place in this world so people feel they CAN reach out and that when they do reach out they feel safe, accepted, understood. I don’t believe we can stop or prevent suicide from happening. When the mind is made up what else can you really say or do to take that thought away, that desire to quit, to end it.
But there is one thing I believe we can do and it’s to spread love like its confetti. To spread love as thick as vegan Nutella. To spread love like there is no tomorrow. Spread love. Be kind. Be caring. Express your love to others. Don’t just keep it to yourself. If you love someone…. tell them! If you think someone is awesome…. tell them! If you think someone has a wonderful talent and has made a huge difference in your life….. tell them. Disconnect is the cause of all suffering. We’re too busy running our own lives. We’re too busy with ourselves to care about others. To see others. To notice others and even more important to notice signs of suffering in others. We’re in this bubble. With very limited blurry vision. When really everybody deserves to be loved, to be reinsured and to be nurtured. We should look out for one and other. We should extend our duty of care beyond measure.
Make others feel loved. Make yourself feel loved. Be good, be kind. Spread love wherever you go, to whoever is on your path. It might have a life changing effect on them. Who is with me?
All my love goes out to Will and Brian’s loved ones, family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss.
